The Boys & Girls Club of Piedmont (BGCP) has scheduled the 3rd Annual Randy Marion Pancake Day – Iredell’s Happiest Day for Thursday, April 3.

The event will be held at the Statesville Civic Center from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Last year’s event raised $122,500 for the Club, exceeding expectations. Organizers hope to raise $135,00 this year.

“We were overwhelmed with community support last year We had 67 event sponsors. The event served 2,177 guests and more than 260 individual volunteers served during the daylong event. All the Rotary Clubs in Iredell County supported the event as well as teams of volunteers from businesses, churches, and schools. We were humbled by the outpouring of support last year, a true reflection of the spirit of giving within our community.”

Event sponsors and volunteers, including “Gourmet Chefs,” are being recruited for this year’s event.

“Pancake Day – Iredell’s Happiest Day is more than a fundraising event,” BGCP Board Chair Donna Collins said. “We strive to make our event a fun community celebration where attendees can share a meal with friends and neighbors in support of the children in our community that need our help most.”

The fundraiser provides “much-needed funding” for the Club’s after school and summer camp programs, according to Executive Director Cory Knight. In 2024, the nonprofit served 566 members, including 509 students at the Cochran Street campus in Statesville and 57 students at the satellite campus at Shepherd Elementary School in Mooresville.

“The need for youth services in our community is so great,” Knight said.

The Boys & Girls Club has served Iredell County students and their families since 2007. It operates an after school program from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. daily. An eight-week Summer Camp Program is provided from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. when public schools are closed for summer vacation. The Club serves students in grades K- 12 and offers all members access to academic tutors, help with homework, classes in technology, character education, leadership development, visual and performing arts, intermural sports, games, volunteer opportunities and more. The Club served 38,427 meals to children in 2024 as part of the BGCP After School and BGCP Summer Camp Programs.
