Friends of Lake Norman State Park will sponsor a spring hike for senior women at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, at Lake Norman State Park.

Julie Higgie, retired environmental educator, will lead the hike.

The group will meet at the Lake Shore Trailhead off Short Leaf Drive in the park. The hike, geared toward women who want to walk slowly and enjoy fellowship in nature, should take less than two hours.

Participants will look for spring plants and nesting birds. Hiking sticks and sturdy shoes are recommended.
