During the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education meeting this week, Superintendent Jeff James recognized two board members for undergoing training this year.

Board members Anita Kurn and Mike Kubiniec were recognized for their achievement of training hours through the N.C. School Boards Association certification.

“We applaud their commitment to school board training and both have earned the Certificate of Merit, which is 31 to 100 hours of training,” James said.

Finance Department Recognition

I-SS Chief Finance Officer Adam Steele recognized Assistant Finance Officer Maggie Becker and Federal Budget Analyst Michelle Cassidy for completing the N.C. Association of School Business Officials Academy Director Certification.

The certification requires completion of 36 courses with an assessment for each. The curriculum consists of courses in accounting, financial management, law, including legal responsibilities and business office operations.

Alyssa Claborn (Lake Norman High School) – NCHSAA 4A State Champion 100m backstroke
Dru Kerley (South Iredell High School) – NCHSAA 4A Wrestling State Champion 113-pound weight class
Statesville High School Indoor Track – De’Rell Scott, Je’hahj Sherrill, Tayln Stevenson, Nick Porter – NCHSAA 3A 4x200m relay State Champions
Lake Norman High School Women’s Basketball – NCHSAA 4A State Champions
