The Iredell Arts Council recently hosted the opening of its Middle School & High School Art Show, showcasing the creativity and talent of young artists from across the county. The event brought together students, families, and art enthusiasts for a night of celebration and recognition.

Thanks to the generous support of Kelly Smith and the team at Kewaunee Scientific Corporation, the Iredell Arts Council awarded scholarship money to outstanding student artists, honoring their dedication and artistic achievement.

Award Winners

High School

♦ First Place: Pearl Necklace – Gowri Nair, Lake Norman High School
♦ Second Place: Face Jug – Samantha Johnson, West Iredell High School
♦ Third Place: Freak of Nature – Dakoda Denton, Lake Norman High School

Middle School

♦ First Place: Sweets – Aisha Khimersra, Brawley Middle School
♦ Second Place: Koi Peace – Shyla Smith, American Renaissance School
♦ Third Place: Face Study – Isabelle Szfranski, Oakwood Middle School

Honorable Mentions

♦ The Heaviest Weight – Thys Powell, Lake Norman High School
♦ The Mask – Clover Maggor, Lake Norman High School
♦ Smokey Dragon – Phoebe Bisheit, Brawley Middle School

“We are so proud of the talent in our community,” said Sydney Koppelmeyer, executive director of the Iredell Arts Council. “These young artists bring fresh perspectives and creativity, and we are grateful to Kewaunee for making it possible to recognize their hard work.”

The Iredell Arts Council also acknowledged Iredell County art teachers for their passion, guidance, and encouragement, which help these students grow as artists and share their creativity with the world.

The youth art show will be on display until March 28 at 203 S. Meeting Street in Statesville.
