The Iredell Arts Council invites the community to attend the opening reception for a show featuring the artwork of local Panamanian-American artist Rogelio Calvo.

This opening is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., offering a rare opportunity to experience a diverse collection of contemporary art that blends the rich cultural heritage of Panamá with modern artistic expression.

Titled “Monkey Papers,” this exhibition features a series of compelling drawings woven between Calvo’s vibrant paintings. From expressionistic charcoals to pastel works on paper, these pieces showcase Calvo’s creative innovation and deeply personal artistic vision.

A distinguished artist and educator, Calvo is the current chair of the Fine Arts Department and an instructor at Mitchell Community College. His deep ties to the Iredell Arts Council, where he once served as director.

This art show is free and open to the public. The Iredell Arts Council is located at 203 S. Meeting Street in Statesville.
