Mooresville Graded School District middle school dance teacher Carly Thompson was honored at Belmont Abbey College during their recent Dance Showcase with the Excellence in Dance Education Award.

This award recognizes Thompson’s outstanding contributions to dance education and her positive impact on students. She teaches dance at Mooresville Middle School and Selma Burke Middle School.

Thompson’s recognition comes after receiving an overwhelming number of votes and nominations from students, parents, and colleagues.

The award highlights her:

♦ Patience and kindness: Students emphasize her supportive teaching style and ability to encourage dancers of all levels.

♦ Positive impact: Parents commend her ability to build confidence and empower students.

♦ Dedication: Her commitment to providing a fun and enriching dance experience for her students.

The award includes a $1,000 grant to support the dance education programs at Mooresville Middle and Selma Burke Middle, allowing for further growth and development.

Thompson was appreciative of the recognition.

“Thank you so much to everyone who sent a nomination to Belmont Abbey College for the Dance Education Award and grant to help the dance program continue to grow and thrive. I’m thankful to teach in a district that has the most supportive colleagues, students, and families,” she said.
