Mitchell Community College President Tim Brewer was recently honored as Mooresville’s Citizen of the Year by the Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber.
Brewer was honored for his steadfast dedication to the community, his advocacy for Mooresville’s local businesses, and his extensive service with the M-SI Chamber, including his tenure as board chair from 2019 to 2021.
As the president of Mitchell Community College since 2012, Brewer oversees the operations of the college’s campuses in Mooresville and Statesville. He provides leadership for all aspects of the institution, ensuring that the college fulfills its mission of empowering the futures of its students with inspiring teaching and learning. The college aims to provide an educational experience that helps students achieve economic mobility and creates thriving community partnerships that help support the success of the college’s students.
Brewer is a committed advocate for community partnerships, as demonstrated by his involvement on several local boards, including the Iredell County Economic Development Corporation, the South Iredell Community Development Corporation, the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce, Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and Iredell Health System. He is also an active member of the North Carolina Community College Presidents Association, where he serves on the Mental Health and Safety Committee. He also contributes to the North Carolina Community College System as a member of the Executive Steering Committee for the Enterprise Resource Planning project.
