The Town of Mooresville’s Arts & Events division has been recognized for excellence in event planning and marketing, winning two awards at the 2025 ShowFest Event Innovators Conference, hosted by the North Carolina Association of Festivals & Events (NCAFE).

The Town of Mooresville Arts & Events team was honored with the “Rising Star” Award for the Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival in recognition of the event’s growth and impact in just its second year.

The Rising Star award is one of two major awards the NCAFE distributes each year and recognizes new events or festivals that are one to three years old that offer a unique experience for their community. This award highlights fresh ideas, successful event execution, and contributions that enhance the cultural and economic vibrancy of communities across the state.

The NCAFE also recognizes host organizations for their excellence in the design, content, and effectiveness of printed promotional materials.

The Town of Mooresville was awarded “Best Brochure of the Year” in the large event category for the Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival event brochure and map designed by Arts & Events Marketing Coordinator Alyssa Anderson. This award honors event promotional materials that successfully engage audiences and provide clear and compelling event information for large-scale festivals and events.

“The Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival is a community-wide effort with collaboration from every Town department, sponsors and community partners, so it’s an honor to be recognized,” said Christine Patterson, Arts & Events manager, “Everyone comes together to create this unique opportunity to showcase our Town’s energy, creativity and hospitality, as well as making Mooresville a more attractive festival destination.”

The Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival was launched in 2023 as part of the Town of Mooresville’s 150th Anniversary signature event programming. The event, which is presented by deBotech, quickly became an annual favorite, growing each year. The festival features stage performances by multi-platinum recording artists, rides and activities for families, a showcase of local barbeque, and a craft beer experience that celebrates the region’s brewing culture. The event takes place in September of each year in Downtown Mooresville.
