About 600 people attended the second annual Charles Fest in northern Iredell County on Saturday.

Founder Kevin Robertson was pleased with the turnout and expressed his appreciation for all of the vendors and everyone who participated.

The family-friendly event featured 35 craft vendors and five food trucks. Also included were 20 antique tractors, an inflatable slide / bounce house for children, face painting, horse/carriage rides, guest speakers, the Union Grove Cloggers, and a variety of singing talent.

Little Hands Preschool performed “America the Beautiful Union,” the Liberty Trio sang Gospel favorites, and the dynamic duo of Jim and Ann Scruggs served as emcees. Robertson’s daughters Kaylie and Abbie enjoyed singing Anne Wilson’s rendition of “My Jesus.”

“It was a great day, “Robertson said.

He was so excited about the turnout that he’s considering a fall event.

“If anyone has ideas for our festivals or would like to join in, we are open to them,” Robertson said. “We are thankful and blessed to be able to host these events, and we’re grateful to our community.”
