Rep. Jeffrey McNeely

FROM STAFF REPORTS

Rep. Jeffrey C. McNeely has begun his third full term in the N.C. House of Representatives. He was officially sworn in on January 8.

McNeely, a Republican who represents the 84th House District, said in a news release that he remains committed to preserving North Carolina’s agricultural heritage and improving the state’s transportation infrastructure to support economic growth and quality of life.

“As North Carolina continues to grow, it’s critical that we strike a balance between development and preserving the rural way of life that defines our state,” McNeely said during his swearing-in ceremony. “I will fight to protect our farmland, empower our farmers, and ensure that North Carolina remains a leader in agriculture.”

First appointed to the N.C. House in July of 2019 and elected in 2020, 2022 and 2024, he said he has prioritized safeguarding farmland from overdevelopment to ensure that agriculture remains a cornerstone of the state’s economy for generations to come.

In addition to his focus on farmland preservation, McNeely aims to address the pressing need for modernized transportation infrastructure. With a rapidly expanding population, North Carolina faces increasing traffic congestion and connectivity challenges.

McNeely said he is committed to working with local, state, and federal partners to improve roadways, bridges, and transit systems to meet the needs of residents and businesses.

“Investing in our transportation infrastructure is essential to the growth and prosperity of North Carolina,” he said. “Improved infrastructure will not only create jobs but also ensure that our communities remain accessible, safe, and vibrant.”

McNeely has been appointed to serve as a member of the House Select Committee on Helene Recovery. He is also co-chair of the Agriculture and Forestry Awareness Study Commission, an advisory member of the Joint Legislative Economic Development and Global Engagement Oversight Committee, and a member of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources.
