RALEIGH — Senate Leader Phil Berger announced Thursday that Sen. Vickie Sawyer will serve on several key committees for the 2025-2026 legislative biennium.

Sawyer, a Republican who represents Iredell County and North Mecklenburg, has been appointed to continue serving as a chair of the Senate Committee on Transportation, a leadership role that underscores her commitment to improving North Carolina’s roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure. Additionally, she will serve another term as a chair of the Senate Appropriations on Department of Transportation Subcommittee, ensuring that transportation funding is allocated effectively to meet the needs of growing communities across the state.

“It’s an honor to be entrusted with these responsibilities,” Sawyer said. “Transportation and infrastructure are the lifeblood of North Carolina’s economy, and I remain dedicated to ensuring our systems are safe, efficient, and prepared for future growth.”

Sawyer will also serve as a member of the Senate committees on Appropriations/Base Budget, Finance, Rules & Operations of the Senate, Commerce & Insurance, Regulatory Reform, and the Joint Legislative Commission on Government Operations.

“These committee appointments reflect the core priorities of my service to Iredell and Mecklenburg counties: fostering economic growth, protecting taxpayer dollars, and ensuring that government operates efficiently and transparently,” Sawyer added, “I’m ready to work with my colleagues to advance legislation that strengthens our communities, empowers families, and ensures opportunity for all North Carolinians.”
