Shawn Pulver

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Shawn Philip Pulver, 37, of Pleasant Creek Drive, Cleveland, in a news release Thursday.

The ICSO began investigating on October 10, after receiving a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children related to the possession of suspected child pornography by an Iredell County resident.

The case was assigned to Detective E. Lane of the Special Victims Unit. During the investigation, Detective Lane identified Pulver as the suspect and determined that the suspected child sexual exploitation material was associated with a social media account on the platform Kik, according to the news release.

Detective Lane executed search warrants on Pulver’s social media account, which confirmed the presence of multiple media files containing child sexual abuse material, the sheriff said.

Based on the evidence obtained, Detective Lane obtained arrest warrants charging Pulver with 10 counts of Felony Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Pulver was arrested on December 27 and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Chambers issued a $350,000 secured bond.

This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed, Campbell said.
