A registered sex offender faces a slew of criminal charges after being arrested at his home by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Joshua Andrew Moore, 37, of Coddle Creek Highway, Mooresville, in a news release.
On Thursday, December 26, ICSO Warrant Squad Deputies D. Joyce and K. Robbins learned that Moore, who had outstanding felony warrants, was located at his home, Campbell said.
After arriving at the home, the deputies observed someone peering out of a window and directed the commands to come to the door, according to the news release. After a brief delay, a resident confirmed Moore was inside.
Deputies then cleared the home, located Moore, and took him into custody, Campbell said.
During the arrest, deputies observed narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view, according to the news release. A search of the residence then uncovered fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, all which Moore admitted ownership of, the sheriff said,
Deputy Joyce, who had received prior information suggesting Moore’s involvement in the theft of a van from a local church in Mooresville, questioned Moore about the vehicle.
Moore revealed the van was hidden in the woods near Timber Road, according to the news release. As deputies escorted Moore to the patrol car, the suspect pointed to a black Ford truck in the driveway and spontaneously confessed it was also stolen, Campbell said. A records check confirmed the truck had been reported stolen in Mecklenburg County.
Deputies from the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team later located the stolen van, which had been spray-painted black, concealed in the woods nearby, according to the news release.
Moore faces multiple charges, including Felony Failure to Report New Address as a Sex Offender, Sex Offender Residence Violation (Within 1,000 Feet of a School), two counts of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Fentanyl, Felony Possession of Crack Cocaine, two counts of Felony Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, two counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property and Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Goods.
Moore was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was ordered held without bond.
