A Mooresville man faces several felony charges, including identity theft, after being stopped by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Norman Eugene Frontis Jr., 68, of Bell Street, Mooresville, in a news release.

Deputy G.W. Wiedenmann, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo on Bell Street about 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, Campbell said.

Frontis, who was driving the vehicle, initially provided the name and date of birth of another individual, according to the news release. After realizing the provided information did not match the driver’s license photo, Deputy Wiedenmann determined Frontis’s true identity and discovered that he had an outstanding Order for Arrest from 2016.

Deputy Wiedenmann conducted a search of the vehicle and seized cocaine, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Frontis was placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver/Sell Cocaine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for Controlled Substance, Felony Identity Theft, three misdemeanor drug offenses, misdemeanor driving without a license and a misdemeanor registration violation.

Magistrate Thompson issued Frontis a $50,000 secured bond.
