A Mooresville man who is on probation for a prior drug conviction faces new felony drug charges after being stopped for a registration violation by an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Billy Wayne Braddock, 51, of Chuckwood Road, Mooresville, in a news release.

On Saturday, February 8, Deputy C.R. Moncus, who is assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Mazda on Building Center Avenue in Troutman, Campbell said.

During the stop, Deputy Moncus informed Braddock of the violation. A records check revealed that Braddock’s driver’s license was revoked and that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest, according to the news release.

Braddock was taken into custody. Before being placed in a patrol vehicle, he was searched for illegal contraband and concealed weapons, the sheriff said. During the search, deputies discovered Braddock was in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, according to the news release.

Braddock was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate Thompson issued a $15,000 secured bond.

Braddock was charged with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Driving While License Revoked.

According to the ICSO, Braddock’s criminal history includes the following charges: Misdemeanor Trespass without a License, Misdemeanor Intoxicated and Disruptive, three counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, three counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Multiple Traffic Violations.

The suspect is currently on probation for Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance.
