Two suspects have been charged with stealing copper materials from a local business.

Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Harmony residents Larry Edward Moore, 44, and Ashley Jane Hubbell, 30, in a news release.

ICSO deputies responded to a report of a larceny in progress Evergreen Heating & Air, located at 1352 Jennings Road, on Friday, January 31, Campbell said.

Sgt. Souther arrived on the scene after receiving reports that two suspects were actively stealing copper. Surveillance footage confirmed the theft of approximately $2,000 worth of copper materials, according to the the news release.

As deputies approached the scene, the suspects attempted to flee in a vehicle that became stuck in a muddy field, 

Deputies quickly established a perimeter, and Canine Levi was deployed to track the suspects, Campbell said. The canine led deputies to the suspects nearly half a mile away, where they were taken into custody without incident.

“These arrests are a testament to the teamwork and dedication of our deputies and K-9 unit,” Campbell said. “Thanks to their quick response and strategic efforts, we were able to recover stolen property and take two criminals off the streets.”

Moore and Hubbell were transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where they face multiple charges related to larceny and fleeing from law enforcement.

Moore was held without bond pending a court appearance due to being out on bond on previous charges.

Hubbell was issued a $2,500 bond.
