FROM STAFF REPORTS
A Statesville Police Department officer has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest on two misdemeanor charges.
Officer Anthony Jerome Irving was arrested on December 30, according to a statement issued by SPD Chief David Onley.
Irving, who was hired in February 2024, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence and misdemeanor assault on a female by a male over 18 years of age.
The SPD has begun an internal investigation of the incident that led to Irving’s arrest. The officer was placed on leave pending completion of the internal investigation, which is departmental policy.
“The Statesville Police Department is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” Chief Onley said. “Any allegations of criminal behavior involving our personnel are taken with the utmost seriousness and will be addressed appropriately.”
