In a remarkable display of cross-country collaboration, the “Terrible at Chess” Club in Los Angeles has provided sponsorship for the upcoming Speak Life and Live Chess Summer Camp in Statesville.

Scheduled for July 21-25, the Speak Life and Live Summer Chess Camp is designed to provide young learners with more than just the fundamentals of chess. Participants will engage in learning sessions with chess professionals and team-building activities, all culminating in an end-of-camp competitive chess tournament. The program emphasizes not only the development of critical thinking and strategic planning, but also the enhancement of social-emotional skills such as patience, resilience, and empathy.

The “Terrible at Chess” Club has garnered notoriety as one of the city’s most prominent communities within the Soho House brand. By promoting a fun atmosphere of chess education and competition, the group sees this sponsorship as an opportunity to bridge communities and provide enriching experiences for the youth beyond California.

Speak Life and Live’s summer programs have a history of being filled to capacity, indicating a strong community interest in such initiatives.
