Kamya Gibbs rang in the new year with the birth of her first child, Keomani Gibbs.

The precious baby boy arrived at 7:41 p.m. on January 1, 2025, weighing six pounds and seven ounces.

The new mom was joined by her Nana, Beverly Gibbs. The family is doing well.

“I cried when they laid him on me,” Kamya said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

After delivering Iredell Memorial Hospital’s first baby of 2025, the new mother was showered with an array of gifts including:
• A cake from Ingles on Sullivan Road;
• A flower arrangement and balloon from Brookdale Florist;
• Gift cards from Food Lion, Starbucks, and Target;
• A stuffed giraffe and drawstring tote bag from Iredell Health System; and
• Three layette gowns, a sleeper, a baby blanket, burp cloths, a pedicure set for mom, a book, a $50 VISA gift card, diapers & wipes, a baby grooming kit, a water bottle, a hooded towel, and a baby’s first year calendar

“What a blessed day it has been,” said Pam Speight, The Birth Place program nurse.

When asked about her experience at Iredell Memorial Hospital, Gibbs’ immediately exclaimed
“Amazing!”

“They really seem like they care,” said Gibbs. “They check on me and Keomani all the time. My experience has been amazing. It’s a good place to have a baby.”

Gibbs wanted to give special recognition to Dr. Kennedy, who delivered Keomani, and staff members Idalina, Ashley, and Brandi for their kindness and care.

The Birth Place at Iredell Memorial is a state-of-the-art maternity facility offering one-on-one nursing and private, welcoming suites. Every mother receives perks through the Pampered Pregnancy program, including discounts at local businesses and a personal pregnancy coach.
