The Town of Mooresville will host its third annual Creek Week on March 10-15 with events for all ages.
The Town’s Stormwater Division is working with various town departments and local businesses, organizations and agencies to offer a week full of fun, engaging events for children, teens and adults.
Organizers of Creek Week say the events are designed to help educate the community on stormwater, general environmental issues and why it is important to keep our water as clean as possible.
“We look forward to a fun and exciting lineup of events for Creek Week 2025,” said Ryan Dapkus, stormwater program specialist. “We have incorporated many events to reach a wide age range for all residents.”
Creek Week events include tours of the Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant, guided hikes at Mooresville parks, trivia at a local brewery, and activities at the Main Library and West Branch Library.
Residents can also get rid of unwanted household items and recycle electronics for free during the Community Clean Up. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, Town Sanitation will be on site at Cornelius Road Park (247 Cornelius Road) to collect the unwanted items. TVs, computers, filing cabinets, and similar items can be dropped off. Please note, hazardous chemicals, paints, and tires will not be accepted.
Along with the Community Clean Up, there is a full lineup of activities and events on Saturday at Cornelius Road Park, including a Touch-A-Truck with Town vehicles and equipment, technical workshops, educational activity booths and volunteer opportunities.
Registration is required for certain events, including the guided tours at the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.
