Furman William Pence Jr., 80, of Mt. Ulla, N.C., passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019, at his home. He was born on November 17, 1939, in Iredell County, to the late Furman W. Pence and Mildred Steele Pence.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He loved working as an electrician before his retirement. He was passionate about sports throughout his life. Bill loved spending time with family and was a great husband, true father and grandfather. Family was always first to him. He had a great sense of humor. He was a great listener and always spoke wisely. He was constantly seeking to learn and always up for a challenge. Bill was always ready to help others in need.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Dagenhart Pence; children, Robin Johnson (Ray), Scott Pence (Dawn), Debbie Dube (Mike) and Ann Pence (Steven Solazzo); brother, Bobby Steele Pence (Jane); grandchildren, Lindsay, Brian, Beth, Kristy, Griffin, Emma, Claire, William, and Sarah; and six great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 21, at Triplett United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Auten officiating. Visitation for family and friends at 2 p.m. with the service following at 3 p.m.
