Mrs. Betty Jean Stewart Warren, 88, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on January 16, 2020, at Gordon Hospice House. A native of Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Harley Eugene Stewart and Cleo Morrow Stewart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Boyd Isenhour, and by another brother-in-law, Buck Fox.
Mrs. Warren was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School. She retired as Seamstress from Hunt-Benfang and was a lifetime member of New Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW Ladies Auxiliaries, and a former member of the Iredell County Ostomy Association. Mrs. Warren loved homemaking and caring for her large family. Tending to her flowers also brought her much enjoyment.
Surviving Mrs. Warren is her husband of 68 years, Grayden Warren; her son, Mike Warren (Janet); her daughter, Carolyn Stutts (Ricky); five grandchildren, Ryan Stutts (Dena), Nick Stutts (Erin), Bradley Warren (Lorrie), Wendy Sherrill (Doug), and Tammy Pope (Robbie); and twelve great-grandchildren, Brett and Brady Pope, Kaylee, Leanna, Matt and Josh Sherrill, Makayla and Brice Warren, and Savannah, Megan, Graham and Emmie Stutts. Also surviving is her sister, Jackie Fox, and brothers Don Stewart (Brenda) and Joe Stewart (Linda).
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2020, at New Bethany Baptist Church from 12 noon until 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the Church at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Bill Mason and Jeff Byers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Narendran, Hospice of Iredell County, the Emergency Room personnel and Dr. Davis at Iredell Memorial Hospital for the care shown to Mrs. Warren.
