Carolyn Loyd Alexander, 84, of Harmony, N.C., died on January 5, 2020, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Iredell County on February 26, 1935, to the late John Loyd and Dottie Bowers Loyd.
Carolyn was a homemaker and a poultry farmer. She served as a volunteer for many years at Matthew 25 Ministries. She served in the Ruritan and was named Ruritan of the year in 2001. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for many years and was very active and was also an assistant Sunday School teacher for grades 3-5. She served on the Hospitality committee and was the key holder of Fort Knox.
Carolyn was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her late husband of 31 years, Rufus Alexander. Two sons, Jimmy Alexander and Wayne Mayberry, also preceded her.
She is survived and loved by her four sons, John (Colleen) Alexander, Brent (Anita) Alexander, and Loyd Alexander, all of Harmony, and Allen Mayberry of Statesville; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and many other family members.
A service of Celebrate the life of Carolyn Alexander will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at Harmony Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the service at the Harmony Baptist Life Center.
