Charles Bernard Vanderburg was born in Iredell County on September 30, 1951, and was the son of the late William and Roberta Torrence Vanderburg. He departed this life on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., following an extended illness.
He was a graduate of Unity High School and was a member of Beulah Church of Christ in Liberty, N.C., where he served as at Trustee, Van Driver, Usher and on the Male Chorus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene L. Vanderburg; two brothers, Ivory Alfonzo Vanderburg and Vernon Vanderburg.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his daughter, Minister Victoria (Timothy) Vanhook of Durham; his son, Charles Bernard (Alivia) Vanderburg II of Mooresville; two brothers, Reverend William (Mary) Vanderburg and Harriell (Elaine) Vanderburg, both of Mooresville; one sister, Vera (Dennis) Long of Troutman; twelve grandchildren, John McNeil, Victoria McNeil, Joshua Evans, Kefflin Vanderburg, Kalynn Vanderburg, Khalid Vanderburg, Ammarah Vanderburg, Porsha Vanderburg, Emmaaline Vanderburg, Annaleigh Vanderburg, Kyler Anderson, and Xavier Anderson; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Our father had many children throughout his life, that he cared for and loved.
Our Father taught us everything… except how to live without him.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 12 noon at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home in Statesville, N.C. Reverend William Vanderburg will officiate and burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park.
