Doris Ruth Ludwick Chalich went to heaven on June 20, 2020. Born in Gold Hill, N.C., on May 10, 1926, she most recently resided in Statesville, N.C., with a brief stay at Gordon House Hospice of Iredell County.
Doris was preceded in death by her father, James Franklin Ludwick, and mother, Carrie Grace Taylor Ludwick and her husband Charles Chalich. Doris spent the majority of her life in Salisbury, working in administrative and technical roles at several firms. During WWII she worked in a defense factory in Baltimore, Md. She was an expert at sewing and was a clothes model in her earlier years.
Her parents met at the church (Gold Hill Holiness Church, now Gold Hill Wesleyan Church) where her grandfather, Cicero Alexander Ludwick, was the founding pastor. She was also preceded in death by most of her siblings, Seth Staley Ludwick, James Alexander Ludwick, Lois Virginia Ludwick Hopkins, and Una Maleen Ludwick Perry. Her sister, Jean Carolyn Gordy Ostwalt, still resides in Statesville and her brother, John Ronald Gordy, resides in Charlotte, N.C.
Doris is survived by her stepson, Peter Chalich and his wife Heike Chalich, and their two daughters, Kristen and Lauren, Doris’ grandchildren.
A remembrance service will be held at a later date.
