Jerry William Holland was born November 3, 1953, and was the son of the late Lewis Henry Holland and Elizabeth Alexander Holland. He departed this life at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., on Saturday, May 9, 2020, following an extended illness.
He attended Iredell County Schools and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1973. He attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and was a past member of the All Male and Spiritual Choirs. He retired from Lowes Distribution Center of Statesville in 2016. Due to the death of his parents at an early age, he was reared in the homes of his siblings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, William and Henry Holland; four sisters, Lottie Turner, Ester Holland, Mary Graham, and Mary Ramseur; a sister-in-law, Maggie Holland; and brothers-in-law, Johnnie Turner, Rodney Ramseur Jr, and Jessie White.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Orian Gabriel Holland; sons, Jerry Lowery of Washington, D.C., and Jeremy Holland of the home; a daughter, Jessica Gaither of Statesville; a brother, Jimmy (Tina) Holland; sisters, Dorothy White, Ruth Turner, and Lillian Holland, all of Statesville; grandsons Joshua and Jacob Kearney, both of Statesville; a brother-in-law, Eric Todd (Tracy) Gabriel of Salisbury, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
There will be no public viewing, and a memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
