Lucy Maude Kyles Padgett, 102, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at Maple Leaf Health Care.
Born in Alexander County on November 4, 1917, Lucy was the daughter of the late George Lambert and Minnie Echerd Lambert. She was the foster daughter of James and Mary Belle Kyles.
On August 17, 1940, she married Coleman Padgett and began to raise their family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on January 5, 1993; one son, Jerry Padgett on August 21, 2005; and two brothers, Silas Lambert and Paul Echerd.
Lucy retired from Mark Industries, where she worked as an inspector. She was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church, where she attended until her health began to decline.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jo Anne (Wayne) Ledbetter and David (Kaye) Padgett; daughter-in-law, Roberta Padgett; and seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel and will be conducted by Rev. Rodney McAllister. Burial will follow at Cleveland Town Cemetery.
