Mary Lila King Montgomery, 94, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020. She was born July 31, 1925.
“Our Mother is a shining light. Her light above us reigns. And when we looked into her eyes we knew her love sustained.”
Strong, resilient, moral, a person of integrity, and a fierce warrior. These words describe our Mother. However there are other words that describe our Mother as well: She was loving, compassionate, empathetic, kind and sincere. You might think how could a person be all of those things. Was she famous? No. Was she rich and prosperous? Yes, but not in the monetary sense. Our Mother was all of these things but not by her own merits but by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ that dwelled within her. This magnificently beautiful Holy Spirit dwells within the hearts of all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. What a legacy to leave; this is our inheritance.
Mother we loved you so. You held us all in suspension and placed us in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father, for blessing us with your Guiding Light. Thank you, Father, for blessing us with a Mother who taught us from childhood about your Grace and Love, which will cover us and hold us until we are all reunited within your glorious gates of Loving Grace.
Mary Lila Montgomery is with our Lord and Savior this day as she reunites with her mother, Lila Tarleton King; father, Andrew Marshall King; loving brothers and sister, Fannie Bell Hicks, Marshal Andrew King, and Foree Erasmus King; and our precious father, Emerson Devon Manning. We who are left behind continuing to love her include her children, Virginia Glover, Emerson Devon Manning and his loving wife Terri Deaton Manning, Lila Kathleen Mitchell, Rebecca Irene Manning and Paul Warren Manning. Mary Lila was blessed with four grandchildren. The first precious grandchild, William Denton Mitchell, Jordan Davis and her loving husband Marc Davis, Emily Manning, Emerson Manning and his new bride Kimberly Manning, Michael Fulcher, David and Daniel Fisher; and four great grandchildren, Jacob and River Mitchell, and Frances and Nathan Davis.
Thank you, Jesus Christ, for our mother’s long loving life. Now as we move forward, we will rest and find comfort in the shalom peace of our Gracious Lord and Savior knowing that our mother stands in the presence of The Almighty God, Jesus Christ! King of Kings and Lord Lords! Praise His Holy Name!
