Michael Cotton, 54, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was a hardworking man who always had a smile on his face and was always trying to make others laugh.
He was born on August 26, 1966, to Andrew and Annie Ruth Cotton. Michael was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. His favorite pastime was listening to music. He loved spending time with his wife Roberta whether they were enjoying a drink on the deck together, dancing in the kitchen while cooking dinner or walking on the beach. Those times together were special. He loved cooking on the grill, and he was truly a grill master. He was always the life of the party, always happy and singing to the music. He is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was a loving husband to his wife of seven years, Roberta Cotton; the father to Michael Frazier, Robbie Cotton, Erik Cotton, Tracey Cotton and Casey Meyer; and his beloved grandchildren — he would say they are our legacy: Robbie Cotton, Aayiah Peoples, Christian Mackie, Autumn Cotton, and Hakeem Cotton. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Cotton; and sister, Felicia Williams; and childhood friend and best friend, Chris Faubert. He has a host of nieces and nephews and cousins that he loved to see.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 14, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a celebration of life with military honors following at 12:30 p.m. at the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
