Robert Peter Holcomb, 96, of Mooresville, N.C., was called home to be with his Lord on December 22, 2020. He was the son of the late Elijah (Kirkman) Holcomb, Crissie Luffman and stepmom, Cora Daniels Holcomb.

Robert was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and was a choir leader for 19 years. He loved to sing. He was a retired weaver from Burlington Industries.

Robert was a loving and humble man. He loved the Lord, family and friends with all of his heart. Robert married the love of his life on January 29, 1944, and together they had one daughter, Linda Holcomb Davis. He was preceded by them both in 1990. Robert was also preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Holcomb (Rachel), Martin Holcomb and Bobby Holcomb; and a sister, Dessi Cheek (Dan).

He is survived by his brother, Elmer Holcomb (Wilma); sister, Margaret Jordan (Kenneth); two grandchildren, Mark Davis and Pamela Davis Perry (David); three great-grandchildren, Niel Perry (Amanda), Bradley Perry (Kourtney) and Malinda Elder (Casey); and two great-great grandchildren, Ryland Grey Perry and Ella Rae Perry.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C. He will lie in state from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Iredell Memorial Park, Statesville. Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3327 Amity Hill Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
