Mrs. Sandra Kay Gibbs Parker, 70, of Statesville, N.C., departed this life on August 6, 2020, at Maple Leaf Nursing Health Care in Statesville, following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. James Adam Gibbs and Mary Poe Gibbs. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Robert Parker. Siblings Sarah Gibbs Gillion, Maxine Gibb Sherrill, Johnnie Gibbs Luckey, Betty Poe Jones, David L. Gibbs, Michael Gibbs, Gillion, and Margie Gibbs Brawley; and a grandchild, Christopher F. Brown Jr.; all preceded her in death.
She attended Unity High School and worked at Martinez Cleaners in Salisbury, N.C.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life five children, Carl Robert Gibbs of Statesville, Carla (Michael) Mason of Salisbury, Sherry Jones ( Brian) Kent of Greensboro, Lamont Parker of Charlotte, and April (Shawn) Parker Allen of Statesville; sisters, Frances (Mack) Warren and Mae Louise Gibbs, both of Washington, D.C., brothers, James Edward (Shirley) of Washington, D.C., and William T. Gibbs of Statesville; grandchildren, Kevin Price, Carlos DeAngelo Ellis, Brandon (Jessica) Ford, Kiarra Shawntel Ellis, and Ariel McCree, Melonye McCree, and Willie (Denise) McCree Jr.; great grandchildren, Brandon Ford Jr., Braylynn Ford, Jasiah McCree, Justice McCree, Zamir Carlyle, Jayce Watson, Jalayah Ford, and Jae’Vion Ford; a special niece, Kelli Caldwell; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Life will be held at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, on Thursday, August 13, 2020, at 2 p.m. with Bishop Darrius Hopkins doing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Belmont cemetery.
