Victor Leroy “Roy” Haynes, 84, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020, at his home. He was born March 30, 1936, in Bradford, PA to the late Victor Haynes and Trecia Jane Shaw (Reed).
Roy served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was discharged on October 18, 1962. After serving his country, he moved to California, where he met and married Patricia (Patty) Koures. Roy’s passions in his life were old cars, NASCAR and little league and he would never miss an episode of Judge Judy. He thoroughly enjoyed working in his garage on whatever project he had going at that time. His last project was his cherished 1956 Ford pickup truck that he and Patty went to many car shows all over the country in. Together they even did Route 66 Power Tour. Roy enjoyed being involved in Go Cart racing with his sons. He loved NASCAR and watching the races. He also enjoyed watching his grandson play little league baseball when he could.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Koures Haynes; children, Randy Estes (Laurie), Antoinette Lee Wikstrom (Dennis), and Tim Haynes (Ginalyn); siblings, Ed Shaw, Ted Shaw, and Melanie Keith; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Wedvick (Steven) and Jason Estes; great-grandchildren, Shawn and Shane Wedvick, and Anastasia and Sabrina Estes.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at Peninsula Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Jackson officiating.
