Voda Mae Waugh Wilson, 84, of Statesville, N.C., died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Maple Leaf Health Care.
She was born in Iredell County on June 12, 1935, to the late Gurney Waugh and Macie Kates Waugh. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Voda was a member of Trinity UMC. She was a 1953 graduate of Celeste Henkel School, and she enjoyed their class reunions. Voda enjoyed yard sales, gardening, yard work and joking around with others. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, John Clay “JC” Wilson; three daughters, Pat McLaughlin (John), Becky Cornett (Steve),and Amy Caldwell (Jeff); six grandchildren; John R. McLaughlin Jr., Elly McLaughlin, Ashley Cornett, Landon Cornett, Brandon Caldwell (Tiffany), and Clayton Caldwell; and two great-grandchildren, Raegan Caldwell and Ella Caldwell.
There will be no formal services and the family respectfully requests no visitors at this time due to the health crisis associated with the coronavirus.
