Alan Vance Kerr, 59, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Charlotte, N.C., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 21, 2021, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 5, 1962, son of Irene Kerr and the late Herman Kerr.
Alan had a beautiful singing voice, loved animals, and loved a good game of golf. He gave everyone a hard time but would turn a stranger into a friend in a matter of minutes. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and the proudest PawPaw around. Most important though, was his intense love for the Lord (whom he affectionately called “Daddy”) and his passion for spreading the lifesaving message of Jesus Christ.
Alan had a passion for youth and missions work, especially in Hatti, where he served and built lasting relationships. Alan’s prayer in life was to be an example of a broken life made whole through the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and to draw others into the arms of his loving Daddy.
Alan is survived by wife, Sheila Kerr; mother, Irene Kerr; sisters, Linda Williams and husband Tom, and Judy Fenton and husband Sean; children, Toby Childers and wife Tammy, Amada Taylor and husband Michael, Dustin Williams and wife Rachel, and Caleb Rodgers; grandchildren, Tiffany, Justin, Cameron, Andrew, Matthew, Winston, and Waverly.
The family will receive friends on May 25, 2021, from 4 p.m. at Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held directly following at 5 p.m.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the hospice nurses and all the medical staff who have cared for Alan over the years since his cancer diagnosis in 2015, especially to Dr. Fitts who went above and beyond his responsibilities as a doctor and who Alan came to see as a dear friend, and to nurse Ashley who was a huge blessing and comfort to the family at the very end, and, finally, to his beloved church family and friends for their unwavering love and support. Your kindness means the world and will never be forgotten.
