Ashley Coite Pope, 50, of Statesville, N.C., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
Ashley was born on January 11, 1971, in Catawba County, N.C., and was the son of Betty Pope and the late Coite Lee Pope. He was a member at New Bethany Baptist Church and taught at Iredell County Schools in the Automotive Technical Center. He greatly loved his wife of 24 years, his mother and his beloved pets. Ashley enjoyed cheering on Duke basketball and working on his classic cars.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melinda Keller Pope; siblings, David Pope (Martha), Paulette Doss (Charles), Bobby Pope (Margie), and Teresa P. Fox; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, at Beulah Baptist Church with service to following at 1 p.m. with Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Please follow all COVID-19 protocol when inside.

So sorry to hear this. Mr. Pope you will be missed. We butted heads sometimes but you taught me a lot that I know about cars. ❤️
Ashley was a very nice person to work with. Always kind and pleasant. Rest with the Lord.
He was one of the best teachers I ever had. I’m saddened by the news of him passing. He’ll be missed greatly.
