Billy James Thorneburg, 90, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born in Catawba County, N.C., on May 26, 1931, he was the son of the Loy James Thorneburg and Beaulah Mae Hinson Thorneburg.

In addition to his parents, Billy was also preceded in death by his wife, Shelia Marie Thorneburg; two sisters; one daughter, Teresa Sigmon, who passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021; and step-children.

Billy worked many years in construction and at Dixie Boats. He attended Troutman Church of God and was an avid lover of bluegrass music with his best friend, Jim Moose.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Billy (Denisa) Thorneburg, Terry Thorneburg, Tammie (Mike) Lee and Kay (Woodrow) Hooks; several step-children, including his special step-daughter, Pamela (Ronnie) Brawley. He is further survived by multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

A funeral service for Billy will be held Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Statesville Full Gospel Tabernacle – THE WAVE with Pastor Max Hayes and Pastor Tammy James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
