Ms. Charlotte Denise Cannady, 56, of 352 Crowell Avenue, Statesville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Atrium Health of Charlotte, N.C., following an extended illness. She was born in Iredell County on June 24, 1964, and was the daughter of the late Mac Lacey Cannady and Mary Alberta Darty Nixon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandfather, Walter Woods; her grandmother, Veatrice Wood; an uncle, Charles Woods; and an aunt, Edith Woods.
She was a 1982 graduate of Statesville High School and prior to her disability, he managed group homes for mentally handicapped adults. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, and taking care of others.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her children, Christopher Cannady and Rakeya Stevenson, and Deontaye Furgerson, all of Statesville; adopted children, Crystal Grady, Markee Holand and Romeo Blount, all of Statesville; her grandchildren, Rakia Grady, De’Aisa Vinson, and A’nylia Fergerson; her siblings, Diane (Archie) Fletcher of Statesville, Beatrice (Melton) Hardee, Kenneth Darty of Statesville, and Bonnie Cannady; a host of nephews and nieces, including Michael Hardee, Jordan Darty, Kara Fletcher, Latisha Hardee, and Kaleigh Darty; uncles, James (Betty) Woods and Arther (Sandra) Woods; her aunts, Barbara Alexander, Carol Morrison, Letha (Bobby) Morrison, Annette Woods, and Brenda Bennett; and a host of other relatives, St. Joseph Baptist Church Family, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, January 29, 2021, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Darrick Clemons will officiate.
General Public Viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and resume on Friday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.
There will be no public visitation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, has been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services.
