Dale Lee Hawks, 48, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on September 1, 2021. Born in Tazewell County, Va., on November 3, 1972, he was the son of the late Larry Ray Kennedy and Glenna Kennedy, who survives.
Gone before him to greet him in Heaven were his father, Larry, and his sister, Neva Hawks.
Dale served in the United States Army bravely and without hesitation during Operation Desert Storm, receiving an honorable discharge. Dale’s greatest joy was found spending time with his family. He took pride in everything he did. He never met a stranger, often feeding the homeless and sitting to talk with them. Dale enjoyed nature, speaking often of his love for West Virginia and how being outside reminded him of that. The list of things about Dale that will be missed are endless, yet most of all will be his genuine, kind and good heart. Those lucky enough to be loved by him will never doubt his devotion.
He worked at Flowers Bakery for 15 years as a maintenance engineer and recently moved to Corning as a maintenance engineer also.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Glenna; the love of his life, Michelle Rogers; her daughter, Pamela Rogers; and grandson, Jordan Maddox; son, Skylar Hawks; brothers, Larry Kennedy and wife Stephanie of Statesville and John Kennedy of West Virginia. He is further survived by nieces and nephews, Dustin, Corey, Kacey, Dakota and Joseph Cooper; Kayla, Melonie, Brooklyn and Presley Kennedy, and Jamie and wife Brianna Kennedy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Justus officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family request that memorial donations be made to Acts of Kindness Family Ministry.
