Mr. Darren Douglas Burton, affectionately called “Baby Twin,” 56, of 322 Medlin Street, Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County on February 8, 1965, and was the son of the late James Richard Burton and Mary Carolyn Springs Burton. He departed this life on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Davis Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

He attended Statesville City Schools and was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Elizabeth Burton, and his twin brother, Darius “Big Twin” Burton.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, two sons, Darren (Janice) Brice of Mooresville and Darrius Brice of Charlotte; ten grandchildren, Darren Jr., De’Ron, Zilvia, Kanaria, Darrius Jr., Ahmani, Qua’rrius, Kennedy and Legacy; two sisters, Michelle Boller of Charlotte and Tamara (Rodgeric) Connor of Mooresville; a host of nieces and nephews, Annika Burton, Nakia Campbell, Tiffany Ranga, Kaylen Boller, Tevin Mattox and Jimik Stockton; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 4 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Reverend Kevin Little Sr. will officiate. Members of the family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4 p.m., thirty minutes prior to the service.
