Mrs. Doreather Crosby Ellison, 91, of 939 Park Drive, Statesville, N.,C was born on August 2, 1929, in York County, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Armenia Cosby. She departed her well-lived and blessed life on Friday, January 29 2021, at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville.
Mrs. Ellison was a faithful member of Highland Acres Church of Christ in Statesville until her health declined. She worked for many years at Sloan Cleaners as a presser and retired at the age of 62. She was united in marriage to John David Ellison, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three children, Donnie Ellison, Clayton Ellison and Janice Ellison; four sisters and their spouses, Gladys (Robert) Whistine, Blairnell (Fred) McClure, Geraldine (James) Cobb, and Arthonnia (Roy) Turner, and three brothers and their spouses, Henderson (Margaret) Crosby, Willie (Naomi) Crosby, and Robert (Pamela) Crosby; and a son-in-law, Lewis Feimster.
Those left to cherish memories are her daughter, Dorenda Feimster of Statesville; her son, William Ellison of Statesville; two sisters, Delores (James) Dollison and Flossie (Calvin) Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Lorenda (Howard) Hunter, Eric Feimster, Everette (Gleny) Feimster, Donnell (Latasha) Stevenson, Nakaysha Ellison, Jaketa (James) Mauney, and Brittany Ellison; eighteen great grandchildren, Deshendas Feimster, Jorell Gilbert, Ariyanna Feimster, Areeyale Feimster, Luke Horton, Evan Feimster, Noah Feimster, Dontavious Robinson, Taqualin Robinson, Donnell Ellison, BreShawn Ellison, BreAunna Ellison, Jakina Silver, Ekeelan Florence, Danielle Ellison, Kourtri Ellison, Tezgar Mauney, and Jordan Phipps; eight great great grandchildren, Muhonnis Feimster, DaJahree Foster, Ma’Shondis Foster, Jorell Hugh Gilbert, Princeston Tezsley, Rajztty Roseboro, PrasJhas Reid, and Kaysen Walton,; The Highland Acres Church Family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, 603 South Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677. Brother Al Simmons will officiate.
There will be no public visitation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home, along with other funeral homes across the country, has been issued a mandate to limit the number of family and/or friends at funeral services.
