Elsie Lucille Blackwelder McConnell, 91, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on September 7, 2021. She was born on January 11, 1930 in Iredell County, N.C., to the late John and Fannie Reid Blackwelder.
Elsie loved the beach, flowers, birdwatching, family gatherings, fried green tomatoes, and most of all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Blackwelder, Lucy Phifer, Nellie Parker, and Reid Blackwelder; and her granddog, Chance.
She is survived by her daughters, Talma Williams, Vickie Patterson (Freddie), Jean Crotty (Patrick), Sheila Johnston (Donald); grandchildren, Jonathan Williams (Courtney), Amy Mahaffey (Ben), Amanda Dean, Laura Crotty-Alexander (Tom), and Shane Crotty (Anna); great-grandchildren; Matthias and Madison Williams, Jaden Archie, McKenna and Paxton Walker and Owen Mahaffey, Mason and Ashlyn Dean, Grant and Henry Alexander, and Ella and James Crotty; sister, Sarah Cecile; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville, N.C. on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jonathan Williams officiating. Due to Covid, masks are encouraged, but optional.
