Mr. Harold Joe Everhart, 70, of 1123 McLaughlin Street, Statesville, N.C., was born in Rowan County on July 22, 1950, and was the son of the late George and Helen Richardson Everhart. He departed this life unedpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.
He was a graduate of West Rowan High School, and prior to his retirement he was employed by Iredell Statesville School System. He was a member of Holy Church of God.
He was united in marriage to Kathey Johnson Everhart, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny Everhart and George Everhart; sisters, Patricia Geter and Pearl Everhart; a nephew, Michael Paul Everhart; his father-in-law, Francis Johnson; and his mother-in-law, Myrtle Johnson.
In addition to his wife Kathey of the home, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life his children, Vonetta Johnson and Fredrick Johnson, both of Statesville, and Harold Everhart Jr. of Lenoir; his brothers, Samuel (Sabrina) Everhart, Ricky (Sharon) Everhart, and Paul (Malinda) Everhart, all of Statesville, Albert Everhart and Nate Everhart, both of New Jersey; his sisters, Murreil Everhart, Alma Everhart, Diane Everhart, and Sandra Everhart, all of Statesville, Joann Everhart of Charlotte and Lucille Everhart of New York; his brother-in-law, Larry (Yolanda) Johnson; three sisters-in-law, Pearlene Ivory of Mooresville, and Brenda (Calvin) Daniels and Alice Faye (Randy) McDowell, all of Statesville; twelve grandchildren, Christopher Parks, Aquevious Johnson, Ajana Parks, Brittney Kelly, Hakeem Houpe, Shyheim Stevenson, Deondra Everhart, Nahaven Harper, Ariyah Everhart, Alayah Everhart and Akanye Warren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church in Statesville, N.C. Reverend Burrell Brooks will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Mr. Everhart will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 1 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 2 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
