Harold Levi Bumgarner, 92, of Cleveland, N.C., passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., He was born September 12, 1928, in Iredell County to the late Duff McCoy Bumgarner and Claudia Brown Bumgarner.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Annie Bumgarner, in 2017; one son, Thomas “Tom” Bumgarner, in 2015 and son-in-law, Melvin Norton, in 2021.
Harold enjoyed wood working and in 1980, along with his son Jerry, started Bumgarner Lumber Company. He retired in 1993.
Mr. Bumgarner served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1949 and was a member of Old Providence Presbyterian Church, where he had served as Clerk of the Church Session.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, David “Andy” Bumgarner (Mary), Jerry Bumgarner and Gary “Dale” Bumgarner, all of Cleveland; his daughter Janice Norton of Statesville; one brother, Jim Bumgarner of Cleveland; one sister, Janie Waller (Jerry) of Woodleaf; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 6, 2021, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Old Providence Presbyterian Church, 5140 S. River Church Road, Cleveland, N.C. with Rev. Jeffrey Bumgarner and Rev. Steve Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

Harold was a dear, sweet man. Always enjoyed talking to him when he came to the office. He will be so missed. He loved his family and all of those babies. We will be out of town and can’t attend his service. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers ❤️❣️❤️??????
