Irene Dale Welborn Allen, 67, of Olin, N.C., passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was born Saturday, January 17, 1953, in Iredell County to the late Lawrence Welborn Sr. and Ruby Fair Welborn. She was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Allen; two brothers, and one sister.

Irene is survived by one son, Randall Shumaker and wife Tina; one daughter, Merie Swink and husband Preston of Olin; and four brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Taylor Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Jerry Gwaltney and Rev. Carl Williams will officiate. The body will lie in state from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Taylor Springs Baptist Church prior to the service. Burial will follow at a later date.
