Mr. J.C. Carruth, son of the late Roy Lee and Ritchie Mae Minor Carruth, was born in Iredell County on April 28, 1934. He departed this life on December 8, 2021.
He was twice married, first to Virginia Mae Woods Carruth and second to Mamie M. Cowan Carruth, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three daughters, Tracy Carruth, Pamela C. Bellamy and Carolyn C. Turner; a son, Michael Carruth; three sisters, Alberta Carruth, Louise C. Nesbit and Mary Helen C. Morrison.
J.C. attended Unity High School and prior to his retirement, he was employed by Hubbard Farms as a truck driver.
In addition to his wife, Mamie Carruth, he leaves to cherish the memory of his life four sons, James Carruth, Russel Carruth and Ricky Summers, all of Statesville, and Danny Carruth of Nebo; three daughters, Judy C. Hunter and Virginia C. Roberts, both of Winston-Salem, and Sandra Carruth of Statesville; three sisters, Ella C. Davis and Elllene Carruth, both of Queen, N.Y., and Maxine Knoxs of Statesville; four brothers, Roy L. Carruth and Wade (Rachel) Knox, both of Statesville, and Bill (Darlene) Carruth and Harry Carruth, both of Troutman; a brother-in-law, Bobby Morrison Sr. of Salisbury; a step daughter, Veneta Cowan of Rowan County; six step sons, Andra Cowan, Ashley Cowan, Ruben Cowan and Jerome Cowan, all of Rowan County, Ezra Cowan of South Carolina and Chavis (Laura) Cowan of Baltimore, Md.; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 11 to 11:30 p.m. at Rutledge & Bigham Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m.
