Johnny Ray “T-Bone” Turner departed this world on Monday, December 28, 2020, after a lengthy illness at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C.
T-Bone was born July 27, 1954, to Sally Turner Howell and Johnny Turner. He attended North Iredell High School and Mitchell Community College. In March 2003, he accepted Christ in his life.
He was employed with Freightliner and in addition performed concrete contracting jobs. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, drawing and painting pictures. T-Bone also enjoyed playing bass guitar and had a baritone voice to match.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Carruth Turner; mother, Sally Howell; father Johnny Turner (Grace); two sisters, Francine Bellamy (Tony) and Tajuana White; one brother, Gavin Turner (LaToya); stepdaughter, April Carruth; stepson, Christopher Sturdivant; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Bessie R. Mayberry; paternal grandmother, Mary P. Turner; two sisters, Geraldine Colbert and Tabitha Turner; and one brother, Harry Turner.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the lower parking lot of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Visit the Book of Memories for Mr. Turner at www.rutledgeandbigham.com.
General Public viewing will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, and Friday, January 8, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
There will be no public visitation due to the COVDI-19 pandemic. You can only enter the funeral with a funeral pass, which will be given to the family.
