Johnny Venoid Broome Jr., 55, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital after a very long, hard battle with cancer.

He was born on December 6, 1965 in Mooresville, N.C., to Johnny Broome Sr. and the late Betty Coone Broome. Johnny was a member of Southside Baptist Church and attended The Cove Church, both in Mooresville. He was a dirt track racer in the Limited Sportsman Class and drove #17. He loved teaching his son about racing. Johnny was kind, never met a stranger, and loved the Lord. He enjoyed long Jeep rides with his Honey in the mountains, working on the farm, and he loved his dogs.

In addition to his father, Johnny, he is survived by his wife, Lori “Honey” Edwards Broome; son, Brandon Broome (Amanda); stepchildren, Jessi Taylor (Dalton) and Shane Taylor (Kaylyn); sister, Lynn Broome; grandchildren, Bryson and Ireland Broome; nephew, Tony Bolt (Megan); niece, Amy Bolt (Rusty); great nephews, Mason, Asher, Jonah, River, and Bentley; and his beloved K9s, Marley and Chloe.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. The service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, at Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park.
