Julia Laverne Lentz Milstead of Statesville, N.C., passed away on February 16, 2021, after an extended illness. She was born December 29, 1930, in Stony Point, N.C.
Mrs. Milstead was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Milstead; her parents, Jacob Dalton Sr. and Sophie Combs Lentz; one brother, Jacob Dalton Lentz Jr.; one half sister, Lucille Hanzel; and six half-brothers, Harvey, Glen, Tom, Lindsay, Walter, and Garfield Lentz.
She is survived by a son, David Milstead of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Donna Milstead Blackwelder (Davis) of Madison, Ala.; two granddaughters, Julie B. Holly (Mike) and Amy B. Hamilton (Matt), both of Birmingham, Ala.; and four great-grandchildren.
Judy had a full life and was involved in many different things. She was a beautician for many years in the Monticello Community, volunteered for Young at Heart of Front Street Baptist Church, and volunteered at Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, and the Gordon Hospice House. She loved spending time in her vegetable garden, which she meticulously maintained, and she spent hours canning and freezing the produce for her family. She enjoyed sewing for the family as well. She was a long-time member of Front Street Baptist Church and attended Monticello Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Julie Holly, granddaughter of Mrs. Milstead, at Iredell Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

So sad to hear of Judy’s passing. I will always have fond memories of my childhood days spent running up and down the yards between our houses. Judy and Don were very special people. Love to the family. Judy is now with her Don.
