Mrs. Linda Ruth Lackey Keaton, 74, of 724 Harris Bridge Road, Stony Point, N.C., departed this life on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Select Speciality Hospital in Greensboro, N.C., following an extended illness. She was born in Alexander County, N.C., on January 26, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Lackey Redmond. She was married to Howard Larry Keaton, who preceded her in death. A sister, Janet McKellar, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Keaton was a graduate of Happy Plains High School and attended Keaton Grove Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish the memory of her life one son, Robert (Lilly) Redmond of Stony Point; a daughter, Shelia (Dameon) Houston of Mooresville; three brothers, Edward (Melissa) Redmond and Larry (Tyna) Redmond, both of Statesville, and Ernest Redmond of South Carolina; one brother-in-law, Horace Keaton of Columbus, Ga.; grandchildren, Dominic Keaton, O’Bryant Keaton, Malik Keaton, Jaiceon Houston, and Tahnyla Ramseur; two great grandchildren, Dominic Keaton Jr. and McKinna Keaton; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Keaton will be conducted at Iredell Memorial Park. Mrs. Keaton will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Members of the family will assemble at the residence of her daughter, Sheila (Dameon) Houston, 186 Piedmont Point, Apartment 6, Mooresville, NC 28115.
