Mary Sue Toney, 87, of Harmony, N.C., passed away peacefully October 27, 2021, at Rosewood Assisted Living. She was born June 7, 1934, in Polk County, N.C., the daughter of the late Garner Skipper and Bernice Wilson Skipper. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Harrison Toney.

Mary grew up on a farm, had old-fashioned values and loved the Lord. She loved to sing Southern gospel music with her family at local churches and events. Most of all, she was devoted to her family and enjoyed time spent with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark Austin Toney and wife Lori; grandchildren, Matthew Toney (Keltsey), Josiah Toney (Breanna), Christian Toney, Elizabeth Angel (Austin), Andrew Toney, Sarah Toney, Liberty Toney, Harmony Toney, Timothy Toney, Victoria Toney, and Justice Toney; great grandchildren, Arianna Toney, Julia Toney, Viktor Toney and Harper Angel; sister, Joyce S. Neeley; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. onTuesday, November 2, 2021, at Big Level Baptist Church, 4868 Big Level Road, Mill Spring, NC 28756. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Big Level Baptist Church Cemetery.
